Paul is the founder and chief executive of Cotswold Fayre Ltd, a speciality and fine food wholesaler supplying nearly 2,000 retail outlets throughout the UK. The business grew from the cellar of his house in London to become the leading wholesaler to farm shops and delicatessens in the UK. The company’s ethos of working in partnership with its suppliers makes it the most sought-after wholesaler for the many new brands launching in the sector.
Cotswold Fayre has been certified as a B Corporation since 2015. B Corps are companies that meet the highest standards of overall social and environmental performance and will become the ‘listened to’ voice of business in the future as many realise that capitalism as we know it is dead and the best objective of a business is to help change the world for better. Paul is an ambassador for B Corps in the UK.
Why did Paul want to publish a book?
‘Ever since I was (wrongly) told at school that everyone in Iceland published a book during their lifetime, it struck me as a great idea that everyone should leave some legacy on earth in print before they depart this world, and I was determined that I would do this. (It turns out that while the teacher was wrong, Iceland does have the highest percentage of published authors at 15%.) I have always been passionate about my ideas for business and am convinced that businesses are key to reversing injustice in the world and it is clearly essential that we change what we have done over the past 200 years if the planet is going to survive. The sense of urgency on these matters compelled me to write this book within around eight months. The book was published only two months ago as I write this and has already opened speaking opportunities that wouldn’t have arisen otherwise. Being a published author gives a kudos that is worth all the hours that you will put in! Having a book is also one of the best “business cards” you can have to give to future or present clients to convince them you are the best person to work with them.’
Why did Paul say about with SRA Books?
‘I found SRA Books both very professional and very personable to work with. For the first-time author such as myself, all those involved in the process were good at holding my hand throughout and their advice and expertise made the book much better than it would otherwise have been. It helps that their strapline “Changing the world one book at a time” is completely aligned with my own purpose. I believe that my book will change the world for better in a small way and to know that those working with me also believe this was great!’
